Alexa Winner for Hugo Boss

Recent Parsons design graduate Alexa Winner has been styling photo-shoots and celebrities for the past year. As a culmination to her graduation she just had an amazing event at the Hugo Boss store, where she styled and merchandised the women's collection.

This unique concept store is created specifically for this NYC location in conjunction with star Italian architect Matteo Thun. The spacious store features gray stone floor and exposed brickwork, both of which have been preserved in their original state. Diamond shaped
structures in wood extend throughout the full interior. The dressing rooms in the back are adorned with leather and velvet and create a VIP backroom atmosphere. The elaborate illumination system is designed in cooperation with the renowned light artist AJ Weissbard. Overall a spectacular and airy atmosphere!

For Amanda Lyons' outfit, Alexa used a men's tie as a belt and created a one of a kind signature look for her!

These guys looked so adorable and completely unphased by their fame I couldn't resist posting two photos of them. In addition to everything else they do Liam is creating a line of men's clothes, based on Steve McQueens signature style and Aesha and Alexa are coming out with their own women's clothing line! I cannot wait to see it all!

JENNiE HAN

After much buzz about the six year old model Melody, I would like to also bring your attention to Jennie Han, the talented designer of the childrenswear collection and a graduating student from Parson's BFA fashion design program.

Jennie developed an ethical, organic, sustainable collection under the slogan "Saving Polar Bearie." The two essential influences on her work are boho-chic and endangered polar bears due to global warming. Han's collection is developed around a story about two innocent, romantic, free-spirited girls going on an imaginary rescue trip to the North Pole to save their friend Polar Bearie.

She aimed to make an environmental statement while designing a sustainable collection with the look and quality of a hand-crafted product.

Each knit piece in the Polar Bearie collection is hand-made by herself or her family. The embroidery and beading details and the "crystallized paisley" print featured throughout her collection are also designed by her. "I wanted the collection to be both sophisticated and luxurious yet relaxed and comfortable allowing freedom of movement for my young customers", says Jennie Han.

Jennie combined the finest organic fabrics and yarns with recycled vintage materials, such as this huge Mongolian lamb's wool coat from the 1960s. She took apart the vintage piece and turned it into a little girls coat {featured below}, a hand-warmer and a scarf.

This fall/winter collection is available for girls ages 2 to 12 and most pieces feature elastic waistbands, hems, jersey/knits and stretch wovens. Playing with a balance between elegant and casual clothes, the collection blurs the line between dress-up and everyday clothes.

I am working on opening up the BobbinTalk shop, an online store, featuring graduating design students fashion collection. 1. Two layers of hand crocheted snow flowers (organic kettle-dyed bamboo yarn+metallic gold yarn)
2. A sprinkle of golden sunshine sequins on a delicate lace.
3. One of a kind antique watch face on a gold, crystallized snow flower motifs

Timo Weiland at début

Sunny days, floral patterns and blossoming trees. The outlook for this week is looking quite pleasant. I'm just gonna add to that bubbly and shopping at the Nolita store: début!

The Absinthe Made Me Do It

I never thought I'd say this {and why would you even think of it...} but last night I tried chocolate covered bacon! Yes, you heard, or actually read right: crispy bacon dipped in a thick layer of rich chocolate. And no I wasn't at some Diner around the corner, dedicated to fried oreos and snickers. I went to the Pernod Absinthe party where high fashion and art mixed with psychedelic drinks. I thought Absinthe was illegal in the US, but if Pernod is introducing it, I guess times have changed! First time I tried it I was in Prague and thought it was liquid fire, so this time I made sure i had a really diluted version of it with plenty of sugar and water... But enough about drinking and more about the fashion. The reason I went to the party on the first place was Fay Leshner {a former Accessory Design student of mine from Parsons} who created the red feather head-piece, worn by the model in the Absinthe presentation.

True to her creative spirit, Fay sported a seat-belt {literally} over her glam gown.
