Grant Jewelry

I am both a big lover of rings and a lover of BIG rings. I always end up buying a piece of jewelry every time I go on a trip and my trip to Bulgaria wasn't any different. This time it was my mom who bought me an amazing piece for my birthday from an artist in Bulgaria. It is a massive silver ring with colored sand glaze on top and silver ornaments underneath the base. I am in love with this piece!

It's about 1 1/4" wide on top and about 1/2" deep.

 

If you ever travel to Varna you should visit the art-gallery I bought it at. It's called NAIRI, address is Panagyurishte 4. The artist who made this ring is Grant and his website is grant-jewellery.com He has a ton of beautiful pieces. I could have bought a few more if I could!

The Holidays are pretty much over and hopefully you got some fabulous gifts and jewels, but if you didn't there is always Valentines. Today's designer profile comes from Sofia, Bulgaria. I know for most of you that's pretty far away but these masculine precious rings and necklaces are worth a second look and when their website is up they just might ship all over the world.

Jason Ross - Artemas Quibble

Jason Ross creates works of art in reverence to craftsmen from past centuries. Every piece of jewelry or accessory is crafted, cast or inspired by antique materials. From cloth and leather to book covers and steamer trunks he mixes them up with solid silver and brass and uses ancient techniques to create each object.

Jason doesn't bend to the current trends, but looks to design problems solved thousands of years ago. He adheres to historical accuracy in terms of using only tools that were available in ancient Egypt, Rome through Medieval Europe. The result is unique accessories through a unique process.

Thea Grant and Nicolás Bazzani jewelry

So you already know I'm obsessing over hats, but that doesn't mean I can't adorn myself with some antiquey/classic/fun/allegorical jewelry. Thea and Nico might be the perfect duo to give me that fix. And they are obviously hat lovers, including their adorable baby, as seen on the Sundance channel Market Appointment interview. Thea and Nico are a collaboration in design and exploration of artistic form by Thea Grant and Nicolás Bazzani are one of those impossibly cool couples from DUMBO.

A Brooklyn local, Grant founded the company and the original one-of-a-kind jewelry brand. In 2005 Grant was joined by her partner and husband, Nicolás Bazzani. I shouldn't even bother bragging about them that much. Just look at their jewelry and you will know..

 

Your every day bias cut, simple white tee and torn jeans will go perfect with these. I know mine will! Don't forget to add a hat!

Noon Pasama and Ek Thongprasert - Precious

I am still lusting after Noon Passama and Ek Thongprasert jewelry! Think "Lord of The Rings" and " My precious"! I'm ready to gloat! With 14K gold plated, or copper plated brass details and horse hair angular shapes the brightly colored "jewels" are to die for! I am a lover of over-sized baubles and these are striking a cord in my greedy heart! :)

 

I do love beautiful diamond jewelry, but there is something very special and somewhat theatrical in the large faceted shapes of this design duo. They explore the concept: "What is precious? Looking at any tangible object, what makes you consider something "precious"? What kind of quality would connect it to our pre-perception of preciousness? Is it something glittering, shiny, delicate, or with colors relating to precious metal"

For me the bright jewel like tones work beautifully and I do admit I can't choose one or two. I'm ready to beg for all of them! "Will write for jewels!!!" Hope they are listening...
