Dress Code for Christmas

With Christmas around the corner there is so much pressure to dress up in the holiday spirit and then there are... the Christmas sweaters!! Some fun, some not so pretty, but hey it's the time to be jolly! I'm sure you have at least one of these in your closet. Me? Noo... of course I don't!

Oscars!

Yay! for first time winners, {finally!} elegant dresses, red lipstick {Wow! Sandra} and ex-husbands graciously accepting a loss! Haaa!

Fashion week is unofficially starting today. Can't wait to see the fashionistas dealing with the snow storm in NYC! Designers are already freaking out and sending extra confirmation emails: "Despite the predicted weather forecast, we will still be having the presentation, and look forward to seeing you there." That's a first!!! Now... where are my moon-boots?

Not the snow suit you'd need today, and no real connection to fashion week either, but c'moon it's pretty funny! And I promise you I'll find even crazier outfits at the fashion tents!

Do You Keep Your Stuffed Animals?

I bet you never thought of making a functional hat out of them! That's exactly what Fay did with her beloved stuffed animal, she just couldn't part with. She gave this one a second life and now it gets out of the house more than ever before! Can you say: recycle, re-purpose, reuse? Mind you creating the pattern for the inner lining, putting it together and making it fit right on her head was a complicated project!

I am always happy to see my students' projects come to life throughout the year, but I have to admit end of semester really brings the treasures out! This DIY hat was presented in my Accessory Design class at Parsons as a part of the final project. You gotta love Fay for being true to her colorful unique personality on a day she wasn't feeling well!
I have another group of students presenting tonight! Needless to say I cannot wait

Aitor Throup

Aitor has a passion for the technologically advanced garments and a passion for drawing and designing comic book characters. His design work is based on the human anatomy and the necessity of a reason or function behind all design features.


His design process utilizes innovative methods of design and construction, a three stage construction process of drawing, sculpture, and finally garment construction.

Aitor Throup does not create seasonal collections, but displays selected ideas and concepts. I am fascinated with his sculptural method and ability to explore the dynamics of the human movement to the fullest before creating the final garment.

I love the touch of childish sense oh humor in his serious explorations!

Climate Neutral, Socialism Reminiscent t-shirt

This t-shirt might be appreciated much much more from fellow natives who grew up in the Eastern Block. It's somewhat of an inside joke for everyone who HAD to wear the real red tie. For all else I'll say: It's an Earth-positive, climate neutral tee that doesn't hurt the planet, unlike the idea of the tie itself, which was a symbol of organized brainwashing.

It's funny NOW! Kudos to Denitsa for making it happen!
