This week is review week for the BFA fashion design seniors at Parsons The New School for Design in NYC. Students haven't slept in days sewing, hemming, embroidering, knitting and otherwise trying to finish their final collections. This week each one of them stands in front of a panel of distinguished designers presenting their creations and defending their concepts and ideas. Needless to say hearts will be broken and stars will rise! Some of these students will be dictating tomorrow's trends and I am planning on being there as much as I can, taking pictures and bringing you updates.
But first I'd like to start with Jonathan Cohen's glam collection! He created a print based on a picture of a drag queen's vanity mirror complete with all the things you could imagine would be there: lipsticks, cigarette buds, beauty supplies, drugs AND managed to make it look glamorous!
A fashion design Parsons senior, Jonathan made the cut to show his fabulous dress at a gala in the Madison Avenue Calvin Klein collection flagship store in NYC. He was voted into the show by his peers which is an ever bigger compliment and a testimony of his talent. Not to mention Francisco Costa himself approached the talented young designer to congratulate him!
Jonathan Cohen is about to graduate in May and can be reached at: CohenKJonathan {at} gmail.com
