When I saw "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly" I was so deeply touched by the intense human experience of monsieur Bauby that I cried for hours. How can I complain about anything in my life, when another human being is completely paralyzed and yet capable of blinking a letter after letter to create words and express his experiences. There are no boundaries to the human spirit and the strength that we possess. So when I first saw Anna Zwick's clothing collection I got flooded with emotions again. I felt again his pain and suffering and the emotions he experienced while being trapped in his own body. His tragic state of being lead Anna Zwick to create a powerful collection of soft-colored, padded, organic shapes that wrap the body and create the illusion of a cocoon.
Anna hand-dyed every single fabric and created textures and shapes by hand-sculpting every curve. Her exquisite workmanship is evident in all of her work: hand and machine knits, shoes, gloves, scarves, head-wear; all of it painfully perfect!
Anna was just nominated as a Designer of The Year at Parsons The New School for Design.
